Gianna Manes, President & CEO of ENMAX Corporation, has nearly three decades of experience in the energy industry.
Ms. Manes spent the first part of her career in the gas pipeline business in Houston, Texas before transitioning to the electricity industry. Her career has included responsibilities across a broad range of areas including gas pipeline and power operations; business development; mergers & acquisitions; trading and fuel procurement; and marketing & customer services. She has experience in a number of electricity markets in the United States, Europe and Alberta, Canada.
Before joining ENMAX in Calgary, Alberta in 2012 as President & CEO, Ms. Manes served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer for Duke Energy, a large North American power company based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Ms. Manes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Louisiana State University, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston and completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program as well as the ICD Rotman Directors Education Program.
Since coming to ENMAX, Ms. Manes has focused the company on improving its safety record and financial strength, growing the business through key investments in electricity assets and expanding sales and enhanced services to customers across Alberta.
Ms. Manes has been recognized for her leadership and accomplishments throughout her career including; 2013 CEO of the Year (Electricity Human Resources Canada), 2015’s Top 50 Alberta’s Most Influential People (Alberta Venture) and Canada’s Most Powerful Women 2016: Top 100 (Women’s Executive Network). She believes in giving back to her community, having served as the 2014 Co-Chair of the Calgary and Area United Way campaign, and is an active Board member for the Calgary and Area United Way. Additionally, Ms. Manes is a board member for both the Canadian Energy Association and the Energy Council of Canada.
